The fourth edition of ART.PE – Feira de Arte Contemporânea de Pernambuco already has a date: it will take place from 8 to 12 October at the Recife Expo Center. The announcement was made last month, according to information from Folha de Pernambuco, and comes together with the launch of the exhibition “Solos”, which previews some of the works that will be present at the fair. The exhibition, free and open to the public, runs from 5 to 8 June at Shopping Recife.
In 2025, ART.PE promises to bring together 40 galleries and four museums, consolidating its position as one of the main platforms for developing the contemporary art market in the Nordeste. The programme includes not only exhibitions but also debates, educational activities and initiatives to encourage collecting, as well as activities related to design, urban art and gastronomy.
The official opening of the exhibition “Solos ART.PE” and the launch of the fair's fourth edition took place on 4 June, at a private event for invited guests, also at Shopping Recife. The exhibition, which runs until the 8th, brings together works by eight artists represented by galleries taking part in this edition and, according to the organisers, will work as a snapshot of what is to come in October.
According to Diogo Viana, director-general of the fair and a partner at Archi Cultural, the company that produces the fair, “ART.PE is a project that seeks to structure and strengthen the contemporary art market from the Nordeste outwards, connecting galleries, artists and diverse audiences. The Solos exhibition is a space for listening and exchange with the city”.
Among this year's new features is also the “Programa Solos”, a design exhibition that will bring together pieces by 15 furniture designers and will promote artistic interventions in public spaces in Recife. In addition to the exhibition and the design programme, ART.PE will include in its programme talks with artists and gallerists, a shop with prints and objects from the participating galleries, and a specialist bookshop.
The galleries taking part in the exhibition are: Marco Zero, Arte Plural, Amparo 60, Arrecife, Base, Número, Christal and Garrido.
Another highlight of the event will be the announcement of initiatives aimed at cultural tourism, including a map of routes through local museums and galleries, which will be handed out to the public, and a selection of restaurants present at the fair, offering gastronomic experiences to visitors.
