In this post, we are going to explain how our climate control system works.
Clé keeps the storage space at a constant temperature of between 18 °C and 22 °C all year round, and a relative humidity of between 45% and 55%. One of the secrets to maintaining this microclimate is that we have a warehouse inside another warehouse – like a matryoshka doll.
The climate control system operates in the inner warehouse. This one is not exposed to environmental variations, which reach only the outer warehouse. Passage from one space to the other is through antechambers, so that there is no significant exchange of air between the spaces – the cool air does not get out, nor does the outside heat get in.
Another important strategy is that the water pipework of the climate control system runs outside the storage area – in this way, the works kept at Clé are free from any risk of being affected by a possible leak. More important still is that all of Clé's climate control is monitored by automated systems that give an immediate alert should any parameter depart from the expected range.
This technology is available to all clients of Clé Reserva Contemporânea – both in the private spaces of 25 m² to 600 m² and in the shared areas, for those who wish to store only a few objects.
All this care is intended to ensure the correct conservation of artworks and artefacts. Variation in temperature and humidity is at the origin of the most frequent types of risk to collections, and can cause damage that compromises the value of the works.
That is why, when entrusting your collection to a storage company, asking about the climate control system is just as important as security and fire prevention.
