Darcy Ribeiro is the theme of an exhibition at Sesc 24 de maio

The centenary of the anthropologist, ethnologist, educator, writer and politician Darcy Ribeiro is the theme of the exhibition “Utopia brasileira – Darcy Ribeiro 100 anos”, which is on show at Sesc 24 de Maio, in São Paulo, until 25 June. The curator Isa Grinspum Ferraz has put together an exhibition route that engages with the many facets of one of the leading Brazilian intellectuals of all time, of international renown. Visitors have access to objects, books and documents from his personal collection, as well as to contemporary artworks that connect with his career, addressing the various sides of Darcy Ribeiro's work.

A structure designed in 360° is interspersed with multimedia devices, photographs, videos and a large audiovisual installation. Along the timeline of Darcy Ribeiro's life, devoted to themes linked to the idea of development and social justice, as well as to the great importance he gave to Brazil's indigenous peoples, the exhibition presents a set of original letters never before shown to the public.

The installation of “Utopia brasileira – Darcy Ribeiro 100 anos” relied on the logistics of Art Quality, a partner company of Clé.

The exhibition is free, open to visitors from Tuesday to Saturday, from 9am to 9pm, and on Sundays and public holidays, from 9am to 6pm. Sesc 24 de Maio is at Rua 24 de Maio, 109, in the centre of São Paulo, reached from the República station on the Red and Yellow lines of the Metro.
