If the Brazilian market is buoyant and looking more closely at local artists, as indicated by the Art Basel report, then it is worth putting in your diary the art fairs already confirmed for this year. Here is the calendar already confirmed for 2024:

SP-Arte – 3 to 7 April

Brazil’s largest and oldest art and design fair, SP-Arte has already announced that it will return to the Pavilhão da Bienal, in Parque do Ibirapuera, São Paulo, between 3 and 7 April. The organisers expect to bring together more than five thousand artworks by more than two thousand artists, Brazilian and foreign. Besides the fair itself, the event runs debates and the Circuito SP-Arte, with exhibition openings and visits to galleries and private collections spread across the city. The Rotas Brasileiras event, which in 2023 took place between August and September, has not yet had its dates announced.

FARGO – 15 to 19 May

Heading into its sixth edition, the Feira de Negócios de Arte de Goiás will be held in May 2024. The dates have already been confirmed on FARGO’s Instagram, with no further details, apart from a clue that may point to the theme for this edition: “Afluentes. Os caminhos fluídos da arte”. Last year, the fair gave awards to leading gallerists and collectors.

ArPa | MADE – 5 to 9 June

Held for the first time in 2022, ArPa has confirmed that it will be held between 5 and 9 June at the Complexo Pacaembu, together with the MADE fair, dedicated to design. The first editions took place in a 4,000-square-metre tent erected over the Pacaembu pitch, which is still under building work, though a partial opening has been announced for this half of the year. According to the event’s website, the new edition will already take place in the convention centre that now forms part of the complex.

ArtRio – 25 to 29 September

Now in its 13th edition, ArtRio returns to occupy the charming Marina da Glória, where it has been held since 2017. Last year, the fair occupied an area 25% larger than the previous edition, according to the organisers, who also announced the adoption of sustainability measures to minimise the event’s impact on the environment.

And the international fairs? The website Touch of Class has drawn up a list of the fairs already confirmed around the world, with the dates.
