The collection was on display in Porto Alegre, in 2024, when the city was hit by the floods of the Guaíba River, which adds a further layer of history and memory to the collection. Curated by Adélia Borges, the exhibition was organised and produced by **Expomus** and logistics carried out by [**Art Quality**](https://artquality.com.br/) – both companies of the Clé Reserva Contemporânea group. Through items of domestic use, toys and work tools, the collection represents the social imaginary and the daily life of German and Italian immigrants and reveals personal aspects of the world of people who were seeking to build a new life. The works combine the memories, the techniques and the customs brought by the immigrants from their homeland, on the one hand, and the conditions and materials they found in their adopted land, on the other. “Most of these objects have no monetary value in themselves. They are not items found in antique shops, valued for their monetary equivalence. Most are rudimentary and hark back to our rural roots. The urbanisation of Brazil is recent, so these pieces evoke fraternal relationships, generational traditions and affective memories”, says the curator. The entire collection was gathered and transported by Art Quality with the same planning and care devoted to the most valuable artworks. The exhibition is on show until September 2025, with free admission, on the ground floor of the Museu do Ipiranga, which is open from Tuesday to Sunday (including public holidays), from 10am to 5pm (last admission at 4pm).
