Dust is naturally already one of the greatest enemies of artworks. Under normal conditions, cleaning and preventive conservation care must be religiously observed so that particles suspended in the air do not remain deposited for long on canvases, sculptures or works on other supports.
What, then, of renovation work?
However small or well planned the work on a property may be, leaving an artwork at the mercy of the dust raised during the works is a terrible idea – not to mention the possibility of damage from the movement of materials and tools around the space. Appropriate packing
The best measure is to remove the pieces from the space, pack them in appropriate packing (which rules out bubble wrap) and keep them in storage in a room with controlled lighting and temperature.
When the renovation work is on a large scale, or when the collector does not have a room with good storage conditions, it is possible to turn to private fine art storage hired for a fixed period.
